Muskan Mishra, a 22-year-old social media influencer with nearly seven lakh followers on Instagram, has had a rapid rise in politics as part of the Samajwadi Party’s women’s wing. Appointed national secretary of SP Mahila Sabha in July, Mishra was tasked with building digital engagement among young voters. However, her short political stint ended abruptly after a visit to Ayodhya, where she met Hanumangarhi Mahant Raju Das and posted a video of taking his blessings on Instagram.

The Controversial Ayodhya Visit

The video quickly went viral, triggering criticism within the party. The controversy stems from Mahant Raju Das, who earlier had used derogatory language against SP founder Mulayam Singh Yadav during the Prayagraj Mahakumbh. Party insiders said the matter reached SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, leading to her removal within hours.

Official Removal and Clarifications

Muskan Mishra was officially relieved from her post with a letter stating, “You are hereby relieved from the post of national secretary, Samajwadi Party Mahila Sabha, with immediate effect. Netaji Mulayam Singh Yadav will remain our inspiration forever.”

Some party leaders later clarified that Mishra’s removal was also due to her upcoming marriage and not solely linked to the Ayodhya video.

Muskan Mishra’s Reaction

Reacting to the news, Mishra said she was unaware of the seer’s past remarks about Mulayam Singh Yadav. “I have been made a victim of conspiracy. I didn’t know that the person I was meeting had spoken against our party founder. If I had known, I would never have gone there. I’m not upset about losing the post, but the decision was made without hearing my side,” she said.

She added, “If my video has hurt anyone’s sentiments or the party’s image, I apologise. It wasn’t intentional.”

About Mahant Raju Das Controversy

Earlier this year, during the Prayagraj Mahakumbh, a parody account on X had shared a post about Akhilesh Yadav, which Raju Das retweeted with an abusive remark. This led to protests by SP workers across Uttar Pradesh and legal action against the Mahant.

Digital Face of a New Generation

Based in Lucknow, Mishra represents a new-age political generation using social media to engage youth. Her Instagram handle, @muskan_.mishra_, has nearly seven lakh followers and more than 4,600 posts. Her bio reads: “Udkhar girna, girkar udna, seekha hai maine bas, thahrna nahi (I’ve learned to fly after falling, never to stop).”

Brief Political Rise and Sudden Exit

Muskan Mishra’s brief political journey shows the increasing influence of social media in Indian politics and the scrutiny that comes with it. While her stint as SP Mahila Sabha national secretary was short-lived, her online presence continues to attract attention from young voters and followers.
