The Office of the Development Commissioner for Handlooms, under the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, is officially calling influencers, content creators, artists, and sustainability advocates to collaborate for National Handloom Day 2025, 7th August 2025. It’s a non-commercial, awareness campaign that celebrates India’s rich handloom heritage, highlights sustainable fashion, and uplifts local weavers and artisans who carry centuries of skill in their hands.

National Handloom Day

Every year on August 7, India celebrates National Handloom Day to honour the craftsmanship, culture, and contribution of our weavers and artisans. It also marks the Swadeshi Movement of 1905, when Indians first pushed back against British goods by embracing locally made fabrics. This year, the government is taking it digital, and they want you to help spread the message.
