Reshma Kadvath Brings Sustainability to Onam 2025 with Upcycled Sarees
From reimagining decade-old Kerala sarees for festive occasions to winning a sustainability award, Reshma Kadvath shines this Onam season.
Onam is the biggest festival of Kerala. This year, instead of buying new clothes, Reshma Kadvath decided to give her old Kerala sarees a creative makeover. She upcycled three of her decade-old sarees into stylish festive outfits, proving that sustainable fashion can be both traditional and trendy.
Upcycling for Onam Celebrations
Reshma shared in a post that she will wear a new saree for Thiruvonam, while the other Onam days will see her celebrating in beautifully repurposed attire. She completed her look with unique brass jewellery crafted by a local artisan from Assam, inspired by designs she found online. The blend of tradition, sustainability, and modern aesthetics makes her festive style truly stand out.
Recognised as a Sustainable Influencer
Adding to the celebrations, Reshma Kadvath was recently honoured with the title of “Outstanding Sustainable Influencer” by SheSplash under the 6th Edition of the Virtual Women Awards 2025, in collaboration with the Parvesh Utsav Foundation. She was also recognised as part of the #POWER50 Top 50 Women of India. This award celebrates her dedication to upcycling, conscious living, and making sustainability a desirable part of everyday life.
