Shikha Sharma, A Living Legend for Colours

Shikha Sharma was born in 1998 in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. From a very young age, she showed an extraordinary interest in art, especially drawing, painting, and creating Rangoli. Inspired by her mother and grandmother’s designs on the doorstep during festive seasons, Shikha turned this cultural activity into a larger-than-life career. Over the years, her love for colours and symmetry blossomed into a unique skill: 3D Rangoli. Today, Shikha is recognised as an artist and a pioneer of large-scale rangoli art who has made India proud on global stages.

The Rise of a Global Rangoli Artist

Shikha’s Art Institute in Indore has trained countless students in the intricacies of Rangoli, painting, sketching, and clay modelling. One of her most famous works is the massive 12,000 sq. ft. Rangoli dedicated to inspirational women, created on March 7, 2022, at the Takshashila Campus of Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore. This grand piece involved 20 artists and 6 tonnes of Rangoli powder, drawing admiration from top dignitaries and international guests.

This masterpiece earned her recognition from the 14+ World Record Holder, World Book of Records, Asia Book of World Records, and India Book of World Records. Guests at the awards event included personalities like Wilhelm Jezler from Switzerland, Venerable Bhikkhu Sanghasena from Ladakh, Bollywood composer Usman Khan, and politicians like Pt. Vishnu Prasad Shukla and Shri Shankar Lalwani.

Shikha’s Signature Style: Precision, Emotion, and Scale

Shikha’s art style is deeply rooted in symmetry and cultural motifs. Her Rangolis often feature:

International Exposure and World Records

Shikha Sharma has exhibited her art beyond Indian borders. She is the only Rangoli artist from India to be invited to showcase her work in Thailand. Shikha also won 14 world records, including one in the Guinness World Records for creating the largest Rangoli in the world.

She has broken Rangoli-related world records four times, showing her consistency and passion in pushing boundaries. One of her clay modelling pieces also earned her international recognition at a DAVV University competition in Indore.

Shikha Sharma also collaborated with Netflix India to create a monumental mural celebrating the release of the movie “Chhaava.” This larger-than-life artwork, unveiled in April 2025, showcases Shikha’s signature 3D rangoli techniques, bringing to life the essence of the movie.

Shikha Sharma is married to Shaan Joshi, who is a musician and her manager. They met through a shared passion for creativity. The couple lives in Indore and shares a home studio. Together, they travel for exhibitions, run social media campaigns, and collaborate on multimedia Rangoli projects.

Shikha has an online following of close to 2 million followers on Instagram and a YouTube channel of 15M+ subscribers; she is one of the most followed Indian artists on digital platforms.
