What if someone walked into your office and casually told you they were planning to murder their wife?

Sounds like the beginning of a very bad day for any lawyer.

That is exactly where Mastermind, an original drama on the Klip app, begins. Aahir walks into lawyer Ishani’s office and tells her that he is going to kill his wife, Maya, in a few days. And no, he isn’t making some random threat or trying to scare someone. He seems to have already made up his mind.

Naturally, Ishani wants to understand what is actually going on.

And that is when things get messy.

A murder confession that raises more questions

The interesting part about Mastermind is that the murder confession isn’t treated as the big mystery that needs to be solved. Instead, it feels like the first piece of a much bigger puzzle.

Why does Aahir want to kill his wife? Is he actually planning the murder? And, more importantly, why has he chosen to confess all of this to his lawyer?

As Ishani starts digging deeper, the story keeps adding another layer to the situation.

Just when you think you’ve figured out where the story is headed, it switches things up again.

Everyone seems to have their own game

Without getting into spoiler territory, Aahir isn’t the only person with a plan.

Maya and Ishani’s husband are already involved in a trap of their own, with Aahir at the centre of it. So while Ishani is trying to understand Aahir’s intentions, there are other people quietly playing their own game in the background.

And this is where Mastermind becomes fun to watch.

The drama constantly makes you question who knows what, who is lying and who is actually one step ahead.

Basically, every time you think you’ve cracked the story, it gives you another reason to go, “Wait wait wait… what?”

So, is it worth watching?

If you like short dramas packed with secrets, betrayals and characters who clearly aren’t telling the whole truth, Mastermind is an easy one to add to your watchlist.

It doesn’t ask you to wait forever for the story to get interesting either. The central mystery is introduced pretty quickly, and the twists keep the momentum going.

The best part is that the show doesn’t make it completely obvious who is manipulating whom. By the time everything starts coming together, you’re left questioning almost everyone’s intentions.

And honestly, that’s exactly what you want from a drama called Mastermind.

Our verdict: 4/5

Mastermind is a twisty little drama that knows how to keep you curious. If your current watchlist is looking a little too predictable, this one might just give you the “wait… WHAT?” energy you’re looking for.
