Brands Shift Focus to Trust, Conversions and Measurable Growth
The Indian Influencer Governing Council (IIGC), in its Industry Discussion Report based on inputs from over 100 brands and marketers, highlights a major shift in India’s marketing landscape. Around 15–25% of brand marketing budgets are moving towards the creator economy. This signals the growing importance of creators in brand strategies.
Creators are no longer just promotional voices for brands. They are increasingly becoming strategic partners. As a result, they help businesses build consumer trust, influence purchasing decisions, drive conversions and address real business challenges. From product launches and market expansion to customer acquisition and e-commerce growth, creator-led marketing is becoming an integral part of business strategies. Now, brands place greater emphasis on measurable results rather than just views, likes and reach.
From One-Off Campaigns to Long-Term Partnerships
The industry is also moving away from one-time influencer campaigns towards sustained creator partnerships. Long-term collaborations allow creators to understand brands better, communicate their messaging consistently and build stronger connections with their audiences.
For brands, these partnerships offer an opportunity to establish credibility over time. They can also assess the cumulative impact of creator-led communication, rather than measuring the success of individual campaigns alone.
Why Brands Want More Than Just Viral Campaigns
Creator marketing is increasingly intersecting with performance marketing, consumer insights, community building and commerce. Moreover, advances in data, technology and measurement are helping brands identify relevant creators, understand audience behaviour and align campaigns more closely with business objectives.
This shift reflects a broader change in how brands evaluate influencer marketing. There is now greater attention being paid to its contribution to business growth and consumer engagement.
Sahil Chopra, Chairman of the Indian Influencer Governing Council (IIGC), said, “Creator marketing is entering a defining phase. The opportunity is no longer just about followers, views or likes; it is about solving real business problems.”
He added that creators are becoming strategic partners by building consumer trust, driving consideration, encouraging product trials and delivering measurable growth. According to Chopra, the future of the industry will depend on long-term relationships, credible influence and measurable impact.
Building a More Accountable Creator Economy
As India’s creator economy continues to mature, transparency, professional standards, responsible practices and reliable measurement will become increasingly important. This will help in building a sustainable ecosystem.
The IIGC aims to bring brands, agencies and creators together to strengthen credibility, accountability and impact across the industry.
Ultimately, the future of influence will not be determined by reach alone. Instead, it will depend on how effectively creators shape consumer decisions, strengthen brands and contribute to business growth.
