Punjabi social media influencer Manjeet Kaur, 28, has died nearly two months after she was allegedly abducted. She was reportedly subjected to a brutal attack in Punjab. She passed away at PGIMER in Chandigarh on August 26 while undergoing treatment for severe burn injuries.
According to a complaint filed by her mother, Kaur was allegedly called to Chandigarh’s Sector 34 area by two acquaintances, Shubhi and Pinda. The incident reportedly took place on the night of July 3-4. She was allegedly taken to a secluded area near Morinda, where she was assaulted, tied to a tree and set on fire.
Autopsy Reveals She Was Pregnant
The case took another turn after her autopsy revealed that Kaur was around seven weeks pregnant when she died. The finding was not previously known and has added another layer to an already complex investigation.
Kaur had reportedly suffered extensive burn injuries and remained in hospital for weeks. She briefly regained consciousness during her treatment, but her statement was reportedly not recorded, a point that has since raised questions surrounding the handling of the case.
Investigation Continues
Following her death, Chandigarh Police registered a case based on her mother’s complaint, naming the two acquaintances as accused. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the alleged abduction and attack, while key questions including the motive and what happened during the weeks before Kaur’s death remain unanswered.
The case has drawn widespread attention, with the autopsy finding and questions around Kaur’s treatment and statement adding further urgency to the ongoing investigation.
