Who Was Pranshu?
Pranshu was a teenager who found joy in self-expression. Through videos and photographs shared online, he embraced fashion, dance, and creativity without hiding who he was. His confidence and authenticity resonated with many, particularly those who saw parts of themselves reflected in his journey. However, what should have been harmless self-expression soon attracted waves of hateful comments and ridicule. Instead of encouragement, Pranshu was met with mockery from strangers online who targeted his appearance, mannerisms, and identity.
How Did Online Bullying Escalate?
As clips and images of Pranshu circulated on social media, so did deeply hurtful remarks. Screenshots that resurfaced later revealed the extent of the abuse he faced. What some dismissed as “jokes” or “just comments” became a constant stream of hostility. This hostility was directed at a young person navigating adolescence under public scrutiny.
The incident reignited conversations around the real-world impact of cyberbullying, especially on LGBTQIA+ individuals. Gender non-conforming youth are also often disproportionately subjected to online hate.
Eventually, the tragedy took an irreversible turn. Pranshu lost his life, leaving behind grief and unanswered questions. There was also a collective sense of regret among those who later recognised the devastating effects of digital cruelty.
Why Is Pranshu’s Story Important During Pride Month?
Pride Month is often associated with rainbow flags, celebrations, and visibility. But at its core, Pride is also about safety, dignity, and the right to exist without fear.
Pranshu’s story serves as a stark reminder that acceptance cannot remain performative. It requires empathy in everyday interactions, accountability in online spaces, and the willingness to challenge hate when we encounter it.
Words typed behind screens do not disappear once a post is closed. They can shape self-worth, deepen isolation, and leave lasting emotional scars.
A Reminder To Choose Kindness
As people celebrate Pride this June, Pranshu’s story urges everyone to reflect on the kind of digital spaces they help create. Before posting a comment, sharing a joke, or joining a pile-on, it is worth remembering this. There is a human being on the other side of the screen.
Pranshu deserved to grow up in a world where dancing, dressing up, and expressing himself freely were met with acceptance rather than cruelty. This Pride Month, let us remember him not only through grief, but through action. We can do this by choosing empathy over hate, compassion over mockery, and humanity over indifference, both online and offline.
