Popular Telugu YouTuber Ramana Nandana, known for Nanadu’s World, was detained at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport on Monday over an alleged UK job fraud case.The case centres on allegations that Nandana, her husband Jagarlamudi Madhukar, and his father Mohan Rao collected money by promising UK employment and visa-related services. Nandana has denied the allegations, saying someone misused her name. Why Was Ramana Nandana Detained?
According to the report, RGIA police detained Nandana after authorities issued a Lookout Circular against her and the other accused in a case registered at Ibrahimpatnam Police Station in Andhra Pradesh’s NTR district.
The police action followed a complaint from Mamillapalli Sivakranthi Kumar, a UK resident.
The complainant alleged that he transferred Rs 15 lakh in multiple instalments to bank accounts linked to Destiny Consultancy, which he claimed was connected to Madhukar and Nandana.
The money was allegedly paid for services including a UK visa extension, employment assistance and a Certificate of Sponsorship, or CoS.
According to the complaint, the promised services did not materialise. The complainant also alleged that a CoS document supplied to him was fraudulent.
He said only Rs 2 lakh was refunded after repeated demands.
What Does the FIR Say?
The FIR names Jagarlamudi Madhukar as accused number one, Rama Nandana as accused number two and Mohan Rao as accused number three.
They have been booked on charges relating to cheating and fraud, according to the report.
Authorities issued a Lookout Circular against all three. Police later detained Nandana when she arrived at Hyderabad airport. RGIA police were expected to hand her over to Ibrahimpatnam Police for further proceedings.
