As anticipation around GTA 6 continues to build globally, one of India’s most influential gaming executives believes the game’s biggest impact may not come from players alone. According to Akshat Rathee, Managing Director and Co-Founder of NODWIN Gaming, one of the world’s top GTA 6 content creators could emerge from India. The prediction came during a wide-ranging conversation on the future of gaming, esports and creator culture in India, where Rathee argued that Indian gamers are increasingly positioned to compete not just as players, but as global entertainers and content creators.

Why Does NODWIN Believe India Can Produce a Top GTA 6 Creator?

Speaking about the future of gaming in India, Rathee pointed to the country’s growing creator ecosystem and the success Indian creators have already achieved in categories such as chess, simulation games and livestreaming.

His argument is straightforward: when a cultural phenomenon as large as GTA 6 launches, India will not simply consume it. Indian creators will actively shape the conversation around it.

“When GTA 6 comes out, I believe one of the top five creators in the world will be Indian,” Rathee said.

The statement highlights how global audiences increasingly view India’s gaming industry differently. The industry is not just producing players. It is also creating content creators who attract audiences comparable to international personalities.

Who Is the Indian Gamer Today?

According to Rathee, the definition of an Indian gamer has fundamentally changed.

Rather than representing a niche audience, gaming has become a mass-market activity that cuts across age groups, genders and demographics.

He argues that anyone who regularly plays games; whether that means Candy Crush, Ludo King, BGMI, Roblox, Counter-Strike or Catan can now be considered part of India’s gaming ecosystem.

With an estimated 500 million gamers in the country, Rathee believes the term “Indian gamer” has become too broad to describe a single audience segment.

Instead, gaming today consists of multiple communities, each with its own identity, interests and culture.

What Happens to PC and Console Gaming in India?

Despite mobile gaming’s dominance, Rathee believes PC and console gaming will continue to grow.

He compares gaming platforms to different formats of cricket.

According to him:

  • Mobile gaming is T20 cricket.
  • Console gaming is one-day cricket.
  • PC gaming is Test cricket.

Mobile gaming remains the fastest-growing segment due to accessibility, but Rathee argues that dedicated gamers often seek deeper experiences over time, which eventually drives interest in PCs and consoles.

He also suggests that rising smartphone spending could indirectly encourage users to consider investing in gaming PCs and higher-end hardware.

How Important Is Esports Recognition in India?

Rathee believes government recognition of esports has already had a significant impact.

One of the biggest developments, he argues, was the distinction made between esports and real-money gaming.

This separation has helped legitimise competitive gaming as a skill-based activity rather than associating it with gambling.

Looking ahead, he believes India’s esports future may involve publisher-backed federations rather than a single governing body, allowing individual ecosystems such as BGMI to develop more effectively.

What Will the Indian Gamer Look Like in 2030?

Rathee predicts three major trends will define India’s gaming future.

1. Regional Language Gaming Will Grow

Just as India’s entertainment industry evolved into multiple language ecosystems, Rathee expects gaming to become increasingly localised.

Future games could be built specifically for Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali and other language audiences.

2. More High-Quality Games Will Be Made in India

He believes India’s gaming ecosystem will eventually produce globally recognised titles rooted in local culture and storytelling.

Drawing comparisons to China’s Black Myth: Wukong, Rathee argues that a major Indian-made gaming success story is an inevitable outcome of the industry’s growth.

3. Indian Creators Will Dominate Global Gaming Conversations

The GTA 6 prediction falls into this category.

As gaming becomes increasingly creator-driven, Rathee expects Indian personalities to emerge among the world’s most influential voices around major game releases.

Why Can’t International Gaming Companies Ignore India?

Rathee also warned against treating India as a market that can be won through advertising alone.

According to him, international companies that succeed in India are those willing to invest in local communities, creators and long-term ecosystem development.

He cited BGMI as an example of how sustained investment in creators, tournaments and community-building helped establish one of India’s most successful gaming ecosystems.

His broader message is that India requires hands-on participation rather than distant management from global headquarters.

Why Does This Matter for GTA 6?

GTA 6 is already expected to be one of the biggest entertainment launches in history.

For Indian gamers, however, the release could represent something larger than a blockbuster game.

It may become a defining moment for India’s gaming creator ecosystem, offering creators an opportunity to build audiences around one of the most anticipated titles ever released.

If Rathee’s prediction proves correct, GTA 6 could help produce India’s next globally recognised gaming superstar.

And if India’s gaming industry continues on its current trajectory, that possibility may be closer than many people think.
