Meta has introduced a fresh set of updates to its Edits video creation app, adding Halloween-themed effects, new text animations, enhanced caption controls and audio adjustments to help creators produce more engaging videos. Announced on October 27, the updates expand Edits’ creative toolkit with seasonal features and practical editing improvements for short-form video production.
Edits Adds Halloween-Themed Effects
The latest update introduces Halloween-inspired fonts, sound effects and animations, allowing creators to give their videos a spooky seasonal look. The app has also added 13 text animations, offering more ways to style captions, titles and other on-screen text.
These additions give creators more options to customise their videos without relying entirely on external editing tools.
Beat-Synced Effects and Improved Audio Controls
Edits has introduced new beat-synced effects that automatically align visual elements with music and sound. These include flashing lights and zoom effects designed to match the rhythm of a clip’s audio.
The update also expands audio controls, allowing creators to increase the volume of individual clips by up to 150% within a project. This provides greater flexibility when balancing audio levels across different video segments.
New Caption and Colour Adjustment Tools
Meta has expanded Edits’ caption features with additional styles and bulk-editing options. These tools can help creators apply changes more efficiently, particularly when working with videos that require multiple captions.
The app has also introduced automated colour adjustment tools to simplify brightness and colour balancing, reducing the need for manual adjustments during editing.
Carousel Editing Expands to Android
Edits has extended its carousel editor to Android users, following the feature’s earlier introduction on iOS. The addition allows Android creators to use the app for carousel content alongside its existing video editing capabilities.
Meta has also introduced a new filter developed in partnership with Nigerian musician Ayra Starr, adding another creative option to the app.
Edits Continues to Expand Its Creator Toolkit
The latest updates reflect Meta’s continued investment in Edits as a video creation platform. By combining visual effects, audio controls, caption editing and colour adjustments, the app aims to provide creators with more tools within a single workflow.
Meta has also indicated that a desktop version of Edits is in development, which could extend its editing capabilities beyond mobile devices.
For creators who regularly produce Instagram Reels and other short-form videos, the new features offer additional ways to experiment with visual styles, improve audio presentation and streamline editing.
