Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla at day 1 of India Couture Week - The Reelstars

The biggest fashion week in India, The India Couture Week, is underway. In its 17th edition, FDCI’s Hyundai India Couture Week flagged off in New Delhi on 24th July and will continue to showcase the brilliance of artistry by Indian designers till the 31st. The first day saw a collection by the immaculate duo – Abu Jani & Sandeep Khosla. The show was filled with amazing craftsmanship and some exquisite designs.

Amidst the glamourous attendees, some of our favourite fashion-forward creators were there as well. Here are some of them who made a stylish appearance perfectly fitting for the show-

Sakshi Sindwani

Dressed in a red and gold sari, Sakshi looked the happiest walking the ramp for the designer duo. Advice from Sandeep Khosla to Sakshi before her walk – “You Be You” surely added to her confidence and it shows, as she smiled, winked and twirled her way down the catwalk, adding the distinctive Sakshi element to her walk.

Komal Pandey & Siddharth Batra

Abu-Sandeep loyalists, both Komal and Siddharth have been spotted wearing the designer duo’s outfits on multiple occasions. This fashionable couple attended day 1 of India Couture Week dressed impeccably and set some stunning couple goals in their matching hues.

Juhi Godambe

If there is someone who always gets the memo right, it has to be Juhi. Dressed in a white sari with gold accents, Juhi looked stunning. She asked her followers for styling advice through her Instagram story and dropped the Maang-tikka, making her look accessorised perfectly.

Kusha Kapila

Kusha is now busy with her acting projects but made it a point to attend Day 1 of one of the biggest nights of the India Couture Week. Dressed in a golden sari, Kusha looked dreamy like the quintessential Abu Sandeep muse that she is!

Sanjana Batra

What’s better than bringing in the drama through dramatic silhouettes at a fashion show. Sanjana was draped in this bold hue with floral ruffle detailing. The minimal jewelry and sleek pulled-back hair added to her polished look.

So many of them marked their fashionable presence and it was just Day 1 of the India Couture Week! With the line-up of shows by Indian couturiers coming up in the next few days, it is surely going to be a treat for fashion enthusiasts.

Explore Bollywood Style Secrets with Manisha Malik - The Reelstars

Influencer Manisha Malik uncovers Bollywood style secrets. She was born and raised in a small village in Rajasthan and grew up in Delhi and Haryana. She is a content creator specialised in fashion inspired by Indian heritage. As a kid, she was inspired by women weaving durries, i.e., traditional carpets, and stitching and embroidering clothes during the long summer afternoons. She became fascinated with Indian inspired fashion from there.

Manisha started traveling around India, exploring villages and remote areas, visiting artisan villages and local fairs, and collecting clothes, jewellery, and handicrafts. Exploring cultures and their fashion, folk music, food, and way of life inspires Manisha.

Over time, Manisha has delved deeper into the world of Indian crafts, amassing a stunning collection of embroideries, weaves, and jewellery. Her collection includes the intricate Punjabi Phulkari, the delicate Lucknowi Chikankari, the luxurious Kashmiri Pashmina, and the vibrant Rajasthani Meenakari.

Content Creation Journey

During the lockdown, Manisha started making fashion and styling-related content, so she thought of studying fashion. She studied fashion styling at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT). She had no experience in the fashion industry as her education was in management, both bachelor’s and master’s degrees.

Uncovering Bollywood style secrets, Manisha Malik examines the fashion, clothing, and styling worn by celebrities in depth and analyzes the style, meaning, and logic behind it.

Bollywood style looks Manisha talks about in her content:

Janhvi Kapoor's outfit

Janhvi Kapoor’s outfit is inspired by temple jewellery, ideally made for idols of Gods and Goddesses. South Indian loves gold and each of these motifs has a meaning. It gives a South Indian touch to a modern outfit.

Iconic Katrika Kaif’s Outfits

Katrika Kaif’s ‘Teri Ore’ song from Singh is King. A red and black fireball outfit was a go-to for a playful look—a combo that every girl would want to wear once at a party.

In the K3G movie, Poo’s indo-western outfits were bang on, and people turned their eyes to watch her. Mixing desi style to a London chic look. Kareena Kapoor Khan’s look was a crop top with matching pants, mermaid cut lehengas, and front open kurtas in sheer fabrics.

Ikisvon Jamang is a Testament to the Impeccable Style of Northeast India

Published

model ikisvon jamang - the reelstars

It’s not often that we come across someone with fearless style and creative ingenuity. But, Ikisvon Jamang is exactly that and more! We can’t help but agree (strongly) to Grazia India‘s inclusion of her in the list of creatives to watch out for in 2024. And we’ll tell you why!

From the hills in Manipur to high-fashion in Delhi:

Ikisvon (IKI to her friends and followers), comes from a small town called Ukhrul in Manipur. Considering the fact that many people have never even heard of that little corner in the northeast of India, this girl has come a long way from home! And she’s made her presence known, loudly at that.

In an interview with Vogue India, this model/creator shared how her interest in clothing came from her visits to her aunt in her hometown. Watching her aunt dress in style inspired by Korean and Harajuku fashion, piqued her interest as a little girl too. Her own style has evolved over the years and she always goes beyond the norm of following the usual trends. Now based in New Delhi, she’s actually a very well-known creator in the fashion scene there.

Her journey hasn’t been without its challenges. Growing up with insecurities about her appearance, Ikisvon battled self-doubt before embracing her unique identity. It was fashion that became her armor, allowing her to express herself confidently. Over time, she’s learned to express herself uniquely through her style and it’s clearly visible to anyone who follows her on Instagram. Ikisvon’s style is a captivating blend of street-style edge and timeless glamour.

Creative collaborations, recognition as a force of fashion:

In the last two years, recognition for her talent has poured in from all corners. Grazia India named her one of the creatives to watch out for in 2024, recommended by stylist Edward Lalrempuia. She’s also a model who has graced the ramp for prestigious fashion shows like Lakmé Fashion Week. At this year’s show, she walked for Deme by Gabriella Demetriades. Aside from modelling, her influence as a creator is undeniable, as evidenced by her collaborations with renowned brands like Gentle Monster and H&M. Ikisvon was awarded the Fashion Influencer of the Year (Editor’s Choice) at the Cosmopolitan India Blogger Awards 2024. Last year, she was also awarded at the second edition of Vogue India’s flagship event, Forces of Fashion.

Beyond her stunning looks, Ikisvon Jamang is a vocal advocate for self-love and body positivity. She uses her platform to inspire others to overcome their insecurities and embrace their true selves. With her infectious energy and unwavering belief in her dreams, she continues to break barriers and redefine the standards of beauty in the fashion industry.
