Ranveer Allahbadia Gets His Passport Back, Flies Abroad After 'India's Got Latent' Row

After several months of legal struggle and uncertainty, Ranveer Allahbadia finally got his passport back. On Monday, April 28, the Supreme Court of India gave the green signal for his passport to be returned. This came after the Assam and Maharashtra governments confirmed that the investigations in his case were completed.

The issue began with India’s Got Latent controversy, where specific comments on Samay Raina’s show landed Ranveer in legal trouble. His passport was seized as part of the investigation, restricting his international travel.

“Passport Mil Gaya Guys!” – His Instagram Celebration

Ranveer couldn’t hold back his excitement. As soon as the decision was made, he took to Instagram, posting a happy photo with a black suitcase, flashing a big smile. The caption was heartwarming and straightforward.

Passport mil gaya guys.

This moment brought joy to his fans, who had been waiting to see him return to his full potential, especially with international interviews being a big part of his podcast journey.

What Did The Supreme Court Say?

The bench of Justices Surya Kant and N Kotiswar Singh heard the matter and delivered the verdict. According to Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, investigations were completed in both states. Based on that, the Court said:

“We allow the petitioner to apply to the Maharashtra Cyber Crime Bureau for the release of his passport. Upon such application, the passport shall be released on reasonable terms and conditions as required to be complied with.”

They also instructed Ranveer to fully cooperate with authorities until the final charge sheet is filed. The Court clarified that the Cyber Crime Bureau can impose conditions during the passport release process.

Why did he need his Passport Back?

Ranveer applied in March to have his passport returned. He explained that his work involves international travel, especially when hosting overseas guests on his show.

Without a passport, many of his work plans had been delayed. He had also stopped uploading new episodes of his podcast for a while.

Interim Protection & Apologies

Earlier in the year, the Supreme Court gave interim protection to Ranveer from arrest after his controversial remarks on India’s Got Latent became a legal issue. He had publicly apologised twice, showing that he acknowledged his mistake. This helped him get permission to resume his podcast episodes from March 3, but with a clear direction, he had to maintain morality and decency in his content.
