FoodPharmer's Mission: Making India Healthy Again

In May 2023, Revant Himatsingka, aka Food Pharmer, initiated the ‘Label Padhega India’ campaign. This movement encouraged Indians to read and understand food labels. It helped shed light on the hidden dangers of preservatives and unhealthy additives in packaged foods. Recognised as the second-largest consumer awareness program in India after ‘Jago Grahak Jago’, this initiative sparked a nationwide conversation about food literacy.

Evolution: Label Likhega India

Building on the success of ‘Label Padhega India,’ Revant launched ‘Label Likhega India,’ which translates to “India will write the labels.” This phase shifts the focus from passive awareness to active participation, empowering consumers to influence product labels and ingredient choices. The campaign advocates for transparency, informed choices, and co-creation, aiming to address deceptive marketing and promote healthier food options.

The Chaas Drive: Promoting Traditional Alternatives

Revant initiated the ‘Chaas Drive’ in Kolkata as part of his new mission, promoting buttermilk (chaas) as a natural and affordable coolant for summer. This initiative challenges the dominance of carbonated sugary drinks, emphasising traditional beverages that are both healthy and accessible. Revant encourages others to conduct similar drives in their cities, fostering community involvement and promoting healthier choices.

Co-Creating Clean Protein: A Community Effort

Recognising the widespread protein deficiency in India, with 80% of the population affected, Revant embarked on a mission to co-create India’s cleanest protein product. Through surveys shared on his ‘Make India Healthy Again‘ Instagram page, he seeks public input on daily eating habits, market gaps, purchasing preferences, and acceptable pricing. This collaborative approach aims to develop a trustworthy protein product that addresses adulteration, digestibility, and affordability concerns.

Building in Public: Transparency in Product Development

Revant is committed to transparency when developing new food products. He openly shares the challenges of sourcing raw materials, selecting manufacturers, designing packaging, and navigating e-commerce platforms. He ensures that the final products align with public expectations and values by involving consumers in every step.

A Collective Movement Towards Healthier Choices

Revant Himatsingka‘s initiatives ‘Label Padhega India’, ‘Label Likhega India’, and ‘Make India Healthy Again’ represent a collective movement towards a more transparent and health-conscious food industry in India. By empowering consumers to read, understand, and influence food labels and involving them in product development, he fosters a culture of informed choices and shared responsibility for public health.
