Post More, Grow More: New Study Reveals Instagram’s Secret to Faster Growth

A new study by Buffer has put numbers behind a question every creator asks: How often should I post on Instagram? The findings are clear: the more you post, the faster you grow. Buffer analysed over 2 million posts from 100,000 Instagram accounts and found a direct correlation between posting frequency and growth in followers, engagement, and reach.

The Magic Numbers: How Often to Post

  • Posting 3 to 5 times a week can more than double your follower growth rate.
  • Going up to 6 to 9 times a week or even daily pushes your growth rate higher.
  • Accounts that post 10 times a week see almost 24% more reach per post compared to those posting less.
  • Even with 3-5 posts per week, creators enjoy around 12% more reach per post.

What Counts as a Post?

The study makes it clear that these numbers only apply to feed posts – specifically, photos, Reels, and carousels. Instagram Stories are not part of this analysis. So, if you’ve been relying only on Stories, you may be missing out on serious growth potential.

The idea is simple: more posts mean more chances for your content to appear on your followers’ home feed, the Reels tab, or even the Explore page. Buffer notes that accounts posting more often tend to get better visibility and more views on each piece of content, not just overall.

But Is More Always Better?

Here’s the catch – quality still matters. Posting every day without strong ideas or relevance can backfire. While the algorithm rewards frequency, your audience still values creativity, uniqueness, and content that is useful and engaging. Poor-quality content posted too often can lead to followers losing interest.

The Role of AI and New Tools

For creators who worry about the workload, there’s some relief. With the rise of AI tools and easier editing features, producing more content has become less time-consuming. If you feel comfortable, you can utilise these tools to increase your posting frequency without compromising quality.

What This Means for Creators

If you’re serious about growing on Instagram in 2025, here’s the takeaway:

  • Don’t hesitate to post more often.
  • Aim for at least 3-5 feed posts a week, and increase if you can maintain quality.
  • Focus on value and relevance, not just numbers.
  • Utilise creative and AI tools to produce content more efficiently without compromising quality.
