YouTube's New Rule from July 15: No Monetisation for Repetitive or Copied Videos

Starting July 15, 2025, YouTube will no longer allow monetisation for creators who upload repetitive, reused, or copied videos. This change is part of a big update to the YouTube Partner Program (YPP),to improve the quality of content on the platform.

Why YouTube Is Doing This

Over the years, YouTube has seen a sharp rise in reused, AI-generated, and copy-paste content. This includes:

  • Reaction mashups with little originality
  • AI-made slideshows with no real value
  • Over-edited versions of someone else’s video
  • Low-quality and clickbait content made just to chase views

YouTube is now putting its foot down. The goal is to protect genuine creators and cut down the number of channels that misuse the platform.

What Kind of Videos Will Not Earn Money Now?

Creators will lose monetisation if they use the following tactics:

  • Copying someone else’s video content
  • Repurposing videos with only small edits
  • Mass-producing videos using templates or AI tools
  • Posting the same type of content over and over again with no originality

If your content adds no real value, either educational or entertaining, YouTube will not pay you for it.

What Kind of Videos Will Get Monetised?

From July 15, YouTube will give preference to original content. That means:

  • Educational videos that provide new information or useful insights
  • Entertainment content that is fresh, creative, and keeps the audience engaged
  • Authentic voice and visuals, with no borrowed or recycled parts
  • Content that shows real effort and creativity from the creator

If your content is unique and adds meaning, you will still be able to earn from it.

Who Can Apply for Monetisation?

The basic eligibility for YouTube monetisation stays the same. Creators must meet one of the following:

  • Have 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 valid public watch hours in the past 12 months… OR
  • Get 10 million valid public Shorts views in the last 90 days

Once you meet the criteria, YouTube will check your content for originality before approving your channel for monetisation.

No More Copy-Paste Channels

This policy marks the end of easy earnings from copied or lazily edited videos. Channels that rely on shortcuts, clickbait, or just reusing other people’s work will no longer make money from their uploads.

YouTube wants to build a cleaner, more creative platform where hard-working creators are rewarded, and viewers get value-driven content.

What This Means for Content Creators in India

If you’re a YouTuber in India, this is the time to focus on quality and originality. Whether you’re creating educational content in Hindi, cooking videos in Tamil, or tech reviews in English, make sure your videos are:

  • Shot with your own script
  • Designed for your audience
  • Free from reused or templated content

Your real voice and real work matter more than ever.

What we are finally saying is… This is a Major Update in the YouTube Partner Program (YPP)

As of July 15, 2025, only genuine, original creators will be eligible to earn from YouTube. If you’re uploading copied or repetitive content, your revenue will be stopped. YouTube is now rewarding creativity and cracking down on shortcuts.
