Fake Vaibhav Suryavanshi Profile Misleads Fans After Sachin Tendulkar Tweet; X Takes Immediate Action
A fake account pretending to be young IPL sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi stirred social media by replying to cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar's praise.

14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, playing for Rajasthan Royals (RR), recently made headlines with his historic IPL century. He became the youngest and fastest Indian to score a hundred in IPL history, scoring an explosive 101 off just 38 balls against the Gujarat Titans.
His fearless game, bat speed, and sharp reading of the ball earned him praise and a huge fan following online. Cricket lovers and legends, including Sachin Tendulkar, took to X to celebrate his talent.
Here’s the full story of what happened.
A Fake Account Creates Confusion Online
Soon after the match, a profile named Vaibhav Sooryavanshi with the handle @VaibhavOfficia started gaining attention. The fake account used a display picture of Vaibhav in his RR jersey and a cover image of him in India U19 whites, and it looked convincing at first glance.
The account user cleverly reposted content from the official Rajasthan Royals X handle. But its reply to Sachin Tendulkar’s tweet caught everyone’s eye.
The Sachin Tendulkar Tweet That Went Viral
Sachin Tendulkar praised Vaibhav Suryavanshi:
“Vaibhav’s fearless approach, bat speed, picking the length early, and transferring the energy behind the ball was the recipe behind a fabulous innings. End result: 101 runs off 38 balls. Well played!!”
To this, the fake account responded:
“Thank you so much, Sir. It’s been a dream to earn a compliment from someone I’ve admired. Grateful beyond words.”
Fans were touched by this wholesome reply and believed it was from the real Vaibhav. The post quickly went viral, gathering thousands of likes and reposts.
How X Found Out It Was Fake
Soon, doubts began to arise. X launched an investigation and found three major red flags:
- Not followed by Rajasthan Royals – The official RR team follows all its players.
- Strange handle (@VaibhavOfficia) – Professional accounts usually avoid such spellings.
- All activity was from 28th April – Every post and reply was posted on a single day, showing a clear attempt to farm likes and reposts.
X Removes The Fake Profile Swiftly
After confirming it was a fake, X quickly suspended the @VaibhavOfficia account to stop the spread of misinformation. But the issue didn’t end there. Within hours, the impersonator created a new profile for @Vaibhavsooryava using the same pictures and details. While the original reply to Tendulkar’s tweet disappeared, other copied posts still remained online.
What Happens Now?
While the new fake profile is still live, X may take it down soon. To prevent further confusion, the platform has increased its monitoring of profiles using Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s identity.
Why This Incident Matters?
With young stars like Vaibhav gaining popularity, the chances of impersonation increase. Fans need to double-check profiles before believing or engaging with posts. Platforms like X are doing their part, but user awareness is equally important. This incident shows how quickly misinformation can spread online, even when it starts with something as innocent as a compliment.
