Prasar Bharati Launches ‘Creator’s Corner’ on DD News to Spotlight India’s Digital Creators

Prasar Bharati has launched Creator’s Corner, a new prime-time segment on DD News, aimed at giving a national platform to emerging digital content creators from across the country. The initiative reflects the Centre’s broader push to formally recognise and mainstream India’s fast-growing creator economy.

A National Platform for Digital Talent

The launch was presided over by Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ashwini Vaishnaw, who said that India has witnessed sweeping reforms across sectors over the past decade under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He added that a similar transformation is now underway within Prasar Bharati, calling 2026 “the year of major reforms” for the public broadcaster.

Vaishnaw said the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting itself is undergoing a restructuring to make institutions such as Doordarshan and All India Radio more creator-friendly, industry-aligned and technology-driven. According to him, Creator’s Corner marks the first visible step in that reform journey.

WAVES and the Orange Economy

Referring to the WAVES platform launched last year, Vaishnaw described it as a game-changer for India’s Orange Economy. He said the platform has already enabled opportunities for one crore young creators, generated new employment avenues and contributed nearly 5,000 crore in economic activity.

Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting L. Murugan said Creator’s Corner would empower creators from small towns, rural regions and linguistic communities who are independently producing, editing and distributing content without the backing of large studios. He noted that Doordarshan will now offer these creators a credible national and global stage, in line with the government’s vision to strengthen the Orange Economy.

Building a Responsible Creator Ecosystem

Information and Broadcasting Secretary Sanjay Jaju said the initiative aims to build a vibrant, responsible and inclusive creator ecosystem. He stressed that creators are being recognised not merely as performers but as full-fledged content producers who conceptualise, shoot, edit and distribute their work.

Jaju added that while Creator’s Corner will debut on DD News, it will gradually expand across other Doordarshan channels. The dedicated prime-time slot, he said, will help creators reach wider audiences while bringing fresh perspectives into public broadcasting.

What Creator’s Corner Will Feature

Creator’s Corner will air Monday to Friday at 7:00 PM on DD News, with a repeat telecast the following morning at 9:30 AM. Each episode will feature four to six short videos or reels curated from creators across the country.

The content will span a wide range of themes, including news and current affairs, culture, travel, cuisine, art and literature, music and dance, health and wellness, education, science and technology, environment and sustainable development, inspiring stories and entertainment.

According to Prasar Bharati, the initiative is designed as a mutually beneficial partnership. Digital creators gain the credibility and reach of a national broadcaster, while DD News gets access to diverse, innovative content that resonates with younger and digitally native audiences.
