Who Are Priya Sharma and Sid Madiwale? The Indian-Australian Creators Who Joined MrBeast in Ghana

Priya Sharma and Sid Madiwale, the Australian-Indian couple behind the digital creator brand himynameispriya, have joined YouTube star MrBeast in a community-building initiative in Ghana. The couple spent a week participating in the project, which aims to improve access to education, healthcare, clean water and livelihood opportunities. The initiative, unveiled in September 2026, involves an investment of nearly $10 million, according to reporting on the project.  But who are Priya and Sid, and how did a couple who once worked in mining engineering become part of a global creator-led initiative?

From Mining Engineers to Full-Time Creators

Priya and Sid met in 2012 while studying mining engineering at the University of New South Wales in Australia. After graduating, they worked in the mining industry before deciding to leave their corporate careers and document a different way of life through social media.

Their content follows their travels, van life, food experiences and everyday adventures. Rather than presenting travel as a series of polished holiday highlights, the couple have also shared the practical realities of life on the road, from building and living in a van to managing the unpredictable demands of travelling full-time.

The transition was not without uncertainty. Leaving secure engineering jobs meant stepping away from conventional career paths and embracing an income and lifestyle built around content creation. Their early van-life videos also documented a simpler, more constrained setup before they could upgrade their home on wheels.

What Makes Their Content Different?

One of the couple’s distinctive features is how they bring their Indian heritage into their Australian lifestyle. Priya’s Hindi and Hinglish videos help her connect with Indian audiences while exploring the experience of growing up between cultures. She has spoken about how creating content in Hindi helped her reconnect with her family and cultural identity.

Food is another important part of their work. Priya and Sid co-created Dad’s Special Spice Mix, a business inspired by family recipes and their food content. The venture demonstrates how their audience and cultural storytelling have extended beyond social media into entrepreneurship.

Their videos combine travel, food, humour and personal experiences, allowing followers to connect with them beyond destination guides. Their reported audience of more than eight million YouTube subscribers has also helped establish them as prominent creators in the travel and lifestyle space.

Why Did MrBeast Invite Priya and Sid to Ghana?

According to Sid, MrBeast noticed the couple’s blood donation video and their van-building series. Their previous content and Sid’s interest in building were among the reasons for their involvement in the Ghana project. “Jimmy saw our blood donation video and our van-building series and was keen to have us,” Sid said in an account shared about the initiative.

The project, known as Abna Dakwa Village, was developed to help address the conditions that can push children into illegal labour on cocoa farms. It includes a school, teacher housing, healthcare facilities, clean-water infrastructure, solar power, a marketplace and agricultural facilities. Students are also expected to receive school meals for five years, with support from The Rockefeller Foundation.

During their week in Ghana, Priya and Sid joined local residents in painting, planting and construction activities. Priya said the experience changed how they viewed social change, showing that meaningful action can begin with one person helping another.

The initiative received support from the 1 Billion Followers Summit, Varkey Foundation, Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives and MrBeast Philanthropy, among other partners. It shows how creators can use their platforms to highlight projects beyond entertainment. However, the village’s long-term impact will depend on maintaining its facilities and sustaining livelihood opportunities.

For Priya and Sid, the Ghana collaboration marks another chapter in their journey from engineering careers to life on the road. Their work spans travel, cultural storytelling, food entrepreneurship and community-building, showing how creators can use their audiences to support projects beyond their usual content.
