Why Was Khan Sir Named in the Patna Coaching Centre Firing Case? Here's the Full Story

Why Was Khan Sir Named in the FIR?

Popular educator Faisal Khan, known as Khan Sir, has received interim relief from a Patna court. The court stayed his arrest in an alleged firing case. The incident occurred outside his coaching institute earlier this month. The case relates to a clash near Khan Global Studies in Patna’s Kadamkuan area. The incident took place on June 2. Khan Sir was later named in an FIR. Two security guards allegedly claimed they fired shots on his instructions.

What Happened During the Clash Outside Khan Global Studies?

According to police, the incident stemmed from a confrontation allegedly linked to a rivalry between Khan Global Studies and another coaching institute operating in Patna.

Investigators said a group allegedly entered the coaching premises, damaged property, removed banners and posters, assaulted security personnel and created panic during the altercation. Following a complaint from Khan Global Studies, police arrested the director of a rival coaching institute and several associates.

The case took a new turn after a video surfaced on social media that allegedly showed two security guards firing shots into the air during the chaos. The guards were subsequently arrested.

What Relief Has the Patna Court Granted Khan Sir?

Following the registration of the case, Khan Sir’s lawyer, Arvind Kumar Mahuar, approached the court seeking anticipatory bail. The court granted interim protection from arrest while the plea is being considered.

Speaking outside the court, Mahuar said he had presented all relevant facts before the judge. He also maintained that his client was not directly involved in the incident.

What Charges Have Been Filed Against Khan Sir?

During questioning, the arrested guards allegedly told investigators that they had acted on Khan Sir’s instructions. Based on these statements, the police registered an FIR against Khan Sir and two others.

The case was registered at Kadamkuan police station. It includes charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Arms Act. Police have seized the weapons linked to the incident. The weapons have been sent for forensic examination. The investigation remains ongoing.

What Is Khan Sir’s Response to the Allegations?

Mahuar dismissed the allegations, arguing that the FIR was intended to tarnish Khan Sir’s reputation. He maintained that the security personnel may have acted in self-defence during the attack on the coaching institute and said there was no evidence directly linking the educator to the alleged firing.

Why Did Bihar Fire Services Issue a Notice to Khan Sir’s Coaching Institute?

The legal proceedings come a day after the Bihar Fire Services Department reportedly issued a notice to Khan Sir’s coaching institute over alleged fire safety violations, adding another layer to the controversy.

What Is the Rivalry Between Khan Global Studies and Gyan Bindu GS Academy?

The latest dispute has renewed attention on a long-running rivalry between Khan Global Studies and Gyan Bindu GS Academy, two prominent coaching institutes operating in Patna’s Musallahpur coaching hub.

Reports indicate that tensions between the institutes have persisted for years, driven by competition over examination results, student enrolments, market share and influence in Bihar’s coaching industry. According to reports, disagreements between the two coaching centres have previously escalated over claims regarding successful candidates in competitive examinations, ownership of student success stories and dominance within Patna’s coaching ecosystem. The rivalry has also been marked by allegations and counter-allegations from both sides over the years.

What Happens Next in the Khan Sir Firing Case?

Meanwhile, supporters and students of the rival coaching institute director, who remains in judicial custody, organised candlelight vigils in Patna on Monday. Protesters demanded his release and alleged that the case against him had been fabricated.

The investigation into the firing incident, the allegations against Khan Sir and the broader dispute between the coaching institutes remain ongoing.
