Meet Nishant Kerketta: The Jharkhand Farmer Turning His Village Into a Fashion Runway

A muddy field, a basket of seeds and a village home are not the usual settings for a fashion shoot. But for Nishant Kerketta, they are part of what makes his videos stand out. The 24-year-old farmer from Agharma village in Simdega district, Jharkhand, has caught the internet’s attention by combining agricultural work with carefully styled menswear. His Instagram reels move from everyday scenes in the fields to outfits featuring long coats, oversized shirts, wide-leg trousers, ties and boots. One of his videos reportedly crossed 11.4 million views. Actors Bhumi Pednekar, Shibani Dandekar and Anusha Dandekar also noticed his content and praised his styling. Social media users have since taken to calling him the “aura farmer”.

Who Is Nishant Kerketta?

Nishant comes from a farming family in Agharma, a village in Jharkhand’s Simdega district. Agriculture is the family’s primary source of income, with crops including rice, ragi, urad and seasonal vegetables.

He is the youngest in a family of six. His four older siblings moved to Ranchi to pursue higher education and employment opportunities, while Nishant remained at home to help with the farm.

His father previously worked as a bicycle mechanic alongside farming to support the household. However, a brain haemorrhage left one side of his father’s body paralysed, changing the family’s circumstances. Nishant had considered moving to a city for work, but his responsibilities at home led him to stay back and help manage the agricultural work while continuing his graduation.

From Wildlife Photography to Fashion Reels

Fashion was not Nishant’s first creative ambition. He had wanted to become a wildlife photographer and enjoyed activities such as photography, dancing, football, running and volleyball.

To pursue photography, he bought a camera and took a professional course. He also worked in housekeeping in Goa for about two years to earn money. Later, he opened a small grocery shop in Ranchi with his cousin as he looked for ways to build financial stability.

His move into fashion content came unexpectedly. While cleaning his room, he noticed the clothes he had bought with his earnings and decided to experiment with different outfits. He began styling the clothes himself and recording videos.

That simple idea developed into the Instagram content now attracting attention. Rather than travelling to a city or hiring a professional studio, he uses the places around him to create his fashion reels.

How His Village Became a Fashion Backdrop

Nishant’s videos often begin with him working in a field, walking barefoot through muddy soil or handling crops. The footage then shifts to him wearing a carefully put-together outfit.

His looks range from casual shirts and loose trousers to formal combinations featuring ties, coats, boots and sunglasses. Muted colours such as white, black, grey and faded denim appear regularly, alongside occasional brighter shirts.

The setting remains largely unchanged. Village houses, courtyards, fields, trees and roads become the backdrop for his outfits. This contrast between agricultural work and contemporary menswear is central to his content.

The appeal is not simply that he changes clothes. It is that he does not leave his rural surroundings behind to create a fashion identity. His everyday life and personal style appear side by side.

The nickname “aura farmer” captures this unusual combination of farming, fitness and fashion. His content also challenges the assumption that stylish menswear belongs only in urban spaces or professional fashion shoots.

Bollywood Notices His Style

Nishant’s growing visibility has brought reactions from well-known names in entertainment. Bhumi Pednekar, Shibani Dandekar and Anusha Dandekar have praised his outfits on Instagram, helping introduce his content to a wider audience.

The attention has also come from viewers who enjoy the cinematic quality of his videos. His styling and poses give the reels the feel of a menswear lookbook, even when the background is a farm or a village home.

His Instagram profile, @nishant_kerketta_1, combines fashion, fitness and rural life. His growing audience suggests that viewers are interested in seeing a different side of a young farmer’s life.

Balancing Farming With Fashion

Nishant’s online popularity has not erased the responsibilities that shaped his journey. He continues to be connected to his family’s agricultural livelihood while exploring his interest in fashion and modelling.

He has expressed hope that opportunities in the fashion industry may open up for him. For now, his reels offer a way to develop his creative interests using the clothes he owns and the surroundings available to him.

His journey is a reminder that talent and ambition can emerge from places often left out of mainstream fashion conversations. Nishant has not needed a city studio or a runway to make people notice his style.

He has used his village, his wardrobe and a simple video format to create something recognisable. The fields remain part of his life, but they have also become the setting for a new creative possibility.
