The Reelstars' Real Star Spotlight: How Inderjeet Became The First IITian From His Village

Who Is Inderjeet?

In Pathanwala village of Rajasthan’s Sri Ganganagar district, dreams of making it to the IITs once seemed distant. Today, one student has changed that narrative. Inderjeet, the son of an e-rickshaw driver, secured an OBC-NCL rank of 1040 in JEE Advanced 2026. With this achievement, he is set to become the first IITian from his village, turning years of hard work and sacrifice into a proud moment for his family and community.

How Did Inderjeet Prepare For JEE?

Coming from a family with an annual income of less than ₹1 lakh, Inderjeet grew up with limited resources and opportunities. His father drives an e-rickshaw, and financial struggles were a reality throughout his childhood. Without access to expensive coaching institutes, he relied on a smartphone, online classes, and a village library with free internet access. That library became his classroom, where he spent long hours preparing for one of India’s toughest examinations.

The journey wasn’t without setbacks. After being disappointed with his JEE result in 2025, Inderjeet took a drop year and committed himself entirely to improvement. Following a disciplined routine, he spent months revising concepts, solving problems, and preparing for a stronger comeback.

What Kept Him Going?

There were moments when low test scores made the dream seem difficult to achieve. But Inderjeet refused to let them define him. “Motivation is not a word in my dictionary,” he says. Instead of relying on fleeting bursts of inspiration, he focused on discipline, consistency, and showing up every single day, regardless of setbacks. His mindset ultimately became one of the biggest reasons behind his success.

Beyond academics, Inderjeet has also made a mark in sports. A state-level kho-kho player who enjoys cricket, badminton, and kabaddi, he successfully balanced athletics with studies throughout his preparation years. His journey proves that talent and hard work can go hand in hand, and that pursuing multiple passions doesn’t mean compromising on ambition.

What’s Next For Inderjeet?

Now aiming to pursue BTech at IIT Roorkee, Inderjeet dreams of building a career in artificial intelligence and machine learning. For students growing up in villages and small towns, his message remains simple yet powerful: Believe in yourself. Stay consistent. And keep moving forward.
