Dolly Singh Steps Into A New World With Sanjay Mishra In ‘Arjun Bewakoof’

Dolly Singh is stepping into another unconventional role. The actor and creator is part of Arjun Bewakoof, an upcoming dark comedy crime drama set in Prayagraj, alongside veteran actors Sanjay Mishra and Rajesh Tailang. The first teaser gives a glimpse into a strange and chaotic world where crime, suspense and humour appear to collide. Directed by Smita Singh and co-created with Anand Raaj, the film is rooted in Prayagraj and has been developed with a strong connection to the city and its local creative community. For Dolly, the project marks another step in a career that has increasingly moved beyond social media sketches and into acting, filmmaking and original storytelling.

Dolly Singh In A Different Avatar

The Arjun Bewakoof teaser introduces Sanjay Mishra, Dolly Singh, Rajesh Tailang and Anand Raaj in unusual avatars, without revealing too much about the story.

Dolly, in particular, appears in a role that is quite different from the characters that originally made her popular online.

Known for characters such as Raju Ki Mummy and the South Delhi Girl, Dolly built her audience through observational comedy and highly recognisable characters. Her transition into scripted entertainment has since taken her to films and series, including Bhaag Beanie Bhaag, Modern Love Mumbai, Double XL and Thank You for Coming.

Arjun Bewakoof now places her alongside actors such as Sanjay Mishra and Rajesh Tailang in a story that appears to lean heavily into eccentric characters and unpredictable situations.

Dolly Singh On Working With Sanjay Mishra

Dolly previously spoke about joining Arjun Bewakoof and working with Sanjay Mishra, describing him as a “towering figure” for her.

The film is being developed as an independent, community-driven project. Its makers have connected the production with local communities in Prayagraj while building an audience around the film ahead of its release.

The project also reunites Smita Singh and Anand Raaj, who previously worked together on Andaman.

Alongside Mishra, Dolly and Tailang, the cast includes Anand Raaj, Malvi Malhotra, Jigisha Joshi, Shikhar Mishra and Satendra Yadav.

Dolly Singh Has Had A Big Year

Arjun Bewakoof arrives at an interesting point in Dolly’s career.

In 2025, she became the first Indian creator to win Instagram’s Global Rings Award, one of 25 creators selected worldwide for the platform’s inaugural global creator recognition. The award celebrates creators for originality, creativity and their ability to shape digital culture.

The recognition came after years of building characters and formats that became part of Indian internet culture.

Her career has since expanded across acting, writing and production. A 2026 Fortune India profile described her as an actor, filmmaker, producer and storyteller, while highlighting her work beyond conventional influencer content.

She has also been building Dollywood Films, her own creative and production space, through which she has worked on projects including Best Worst Date.

Her acting journey has included Double XL, Thank You for Coming, Modern Love Mumbai and Bhaag Beanie Bhaag, among other projects.

From Internet Characters To Film Sets

Dolly’s transition has been more than simply moving from Instagram to films.

Her earlier content gave her control over the entire process from writing and performing to shooting and editing. Acting in films and scripted projects meant entering a much larger production environment and working within someone else’s vision.

In a 2025 interview with Cosmopolitan India, she spoke about learning the craft of acting and described the move into Bollywood as a “completely different ball game”.

That evolution is also visible in the kinds of projects she is now choosing.

Rather than staying within the familiar influencer-comedy space, she has increasingly moved towards characters, scripted stories and projects where her identity as a creator is only one part of what she brings to the screen.

What Is ‘Arjun Bewakoof’ About?

The teaser deliberately keeps the plot under wraps.

What it does establish is the tone: a dark comedy set against a crime-driven world in Prayagraj, with eccentric characters and situations that can quickly descend into chaos.

The film is backed by 8th Pillars Motion Pictures and has been shot extensively in Prayagraj.

The setting is also central to the project’s identity. Its makers have positioned the film as a story created by people connected to the city, while bringing local talent into the filmmaking process.

That gives Arjun Bewakoof a different texture from a conventional studio production.

Dolly’s Next Chapter Is Looking Different

For Dolly Singh, Arjun Bewakoof is another indication of how far her career has moved from the internet characters that first made her famous.

She remains a digital creator, but her recent work increasingly sits across multiple worlds acting, writing, production and social storytelling.

The Instagram Rings Award gave her global recognition as a creator. Her growing acting portfolio is now giving her another space to experiment.

And in Arjun Bewakoof, she gets to share the screen with actors such as Sanjay Mishra and Rajesh Tailang in a film that promises something considerably stranger than a conventional comedy.

The teaser has only offered a glimpse so far. But for Dolly Singh, the more interesting story may be what comes next as she continues to build a career that no longer fits neatly into either the creator or actor category.
