IU's Candid Confessions on Suchwita with Suga

In the latest episode of BTS Suga’s “Suchwita”, fans were treated to a candid conversation with South Korea’s beloved “IU” known as the “Nation’s Little Sister”.

In a revelation-filled episode of Suchwita, South Korea’s musical sensation IU, also known as Lee Ji Eun, joined BTS’s Suga to unfold an unexplored chapter in their friendship. Fans were treated to an intimate conversation, bringing to light some surprising details about IU’s past collaborations and the intriguing dynamics within the K-pop industry.

The conversation kicked off with reflections on their first collaboration for the album “Eight.” Suga candidly shared that during this period, IU had expressed interest in obtaining RM’s contact details. However, the twist in the tale came when IU, despite having the opportunity. And chose not to pursue it, revealing a hidden layer of vulnerability.

IU explained that her decision stemmed from a complex mental state. And likely shaped by the untimely loss of close friends like Sulli and Jonghyun of SHINee. The desire to create music that mirrored her emotions during that challenging time led IU to contemplate reaching out to RM. However, the singer admitted that the courage required to make such a move was considerable. Especially given her fragile mental state. She reveals that the song would have been too serious. And she chose not to go through with it in the end.

Interestingly, during this period, IU and BTS did not share a close relationship. Despite obtaining RM’s number from Suga, IU confessed to never making the call. The singer acknowledged her hesitation and how, with time, the initial concept of a collaboration with RM faded away. Instead, IU redirected her creative energy towards the song “Eight” and chose to work with Suga. Whom she affectionately labeled as ‘the best producer’ to collaborate with.

The episode offered fans a glimpse into IU’s journey since her debut up until her current success. As one of the top singer-songwriters and actresses in South Korea. Suga mentions how she has collaborated with some of the most notable icons in the industry like Seotaiji, Yang Hee-eun and Choi Baek-ho. He mentions how almost anyone who has worked with her has acknowledged her talent. And how pleasant it is to work with her despite her stardom. According to IU, advice from Yang Hee-eun during their collab for “Daydream” really stuck with her: “Don’t rely on your voice too much”. She says that it helped her realise that her music. And needs to have emotion that gets conveyed easily to the listener. And having good technique isn’t enough.

The episode offered fans a glimpse into the intricate dynamics of IU’s creative process. And the subtle nuances within the K-pop industry. IU’s candor about her vulnerabilities and the uncharted territories of her friendship with BTS members. And added an extra layer of authenticity to the Suchwita episode. Leaving fans intrigued and eager for more glimpses into the lives of their favorite artists.
