Privileged Beginnings vs Self-Made Claims: The Truth About Ranveer Allahbadia

A viral Instagram page called Privilege Check claims Ranveer Allahbadia’s rags-to-riches story is a half-truth. The page, part of a growing trend that’s not aesthetic or funny, but exposing, has gone viral for calling out so-called self-made creators who actually come from luxury, legacy, and loaded families. We dug into Ranveer’s family background, his real start, addiction struggles, lavish education, and his post-roast reaction to ask: Was it ever really “from nothing”?

The Post

Ranveer Allahbadia, better known as BeerBiceps, is the target.

They write: “Self-made? Really? When your school fees were ₹20 lakh per year and your parents were celebrity doctors?”

They also claim he started YouTube “from his room” but skip the detail that this room was in a rich Mumbai home, not a rented space in survival mode.

They end by saying: “Talent? Yes. But this is privilege-made, not self-made.”

So now the internet is asking, Is this real? Or just another cancel culture moment trying to drag down successful creators?

Let’s fact-check both sides.

What “Privilege Check” Got Right

  • Ranveer Allahbadia was born into privilege.
  • His father, Dr. Gautam Allahbadia, is internationally known as The Miracle Man in IVF.
  • His mother, Dr. Swati Allahbadia, is a well-established gynaecologist with over 30 years of practice.
  • He studied at Dhirubhai Ambani International School, where school fees go from ₹14–20 lakh per year. Not exactly the “humble background” we hear about in YouTube shorts.
  • He started his YouTube channel BeerBiceps from his home in 2014. But it wasn’t a cramped rental or shared hostel. It was a fully-equipped space in an elite South Mumbai residence, with parents backing him.
  • While others save for mics and editing apps, he had access from day one. The idea of “risking it all” doesn’t apply when you have a medical empire cushioning every fall. So yes, the Privilege Check post has substance.

But Here’s What They Didn’t Say

  • Like most viral pages, Privilege Check drops truth bombs without full context. What they skip: Ranveer struggled with addiction in his early 20s. He got into alcohol and marijuana, nearly derailing his career path.
  • At age 24, he turned his life around with the help of his mentor, Manish Pandey, who introduced him to meditation, discipline, and structure. He built 7 YouTube channels, with a total of over 12 million subscribers.
  • His brand, The Ranveer Show, became India’s #1 podcast in 2020, featuring guests like Sadhguru, Priyanka Chopra, and even Arnold Schwarzenegger. He co-founded Monk Entertainment, launched RAAAZ perfumes, Skillhouse, and Level Mind Body Sleep Journal.
  • His estimated net worth today is ₹60 crore, and his monthly earnings from YouTube alone hover around INR 35 lakh. He’s not a struggler in the classic sense, but he did build a business empire. That’s not pure inheritance. That’s hustle with a head start.

The “India’s Got Latent” Joke That Made Things Worse

Recently, Ranveer appeared on the roast show India’s Got Latent hosted by Samay Raina, alongside Ashish Chanchlani and Apoorva Mukhija (aka The Rebel Kid).

During the episode, Ranveer cracked a dark, incestuous joke: “Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day or join them to finish it once and for all?”

Even Samay, known for his own dark jokes, was shocked and said, “What the f***?”
Social media exploded. People weren’t just angry, they were disgusted.
And here’s where the contradiction hit hard. Ranveer had always painted himself as “grounded,” “values-driven,” and “inspired by spirituality.”
So this joke clashed with his carefully crafted brand and gave Privilege Check the perfect opportunity to strike.

Right after the backlash, Ranveer posted about his mental health and needing time to “pause and reflect.” He also went on record saying he came from nothing and built everything on his own. But the internet wasn’t buying it.

Self-Made or Privilege-Polished?

Here’s the real question: Can someone born rich still be called self-made if they worked consistently and created new value? Because the truth is: Ranveer didn’t start from nothing. But he also didn’t sit on privilege and chill. He used what he had, but he also added value, built a company, mentored others, and created content that helped people. That matters. So is he self-made? Not in the Bollywood sense of “slept on floors and ate one vada pav a day.” But is he hard-working and smart? Absolutely.

What’s the Matter?

Is “Privilege Check” real? Yes.
Are they wrong about Ranveer? No.
Are they telling the full truth? Also no.
The internet loves black-and-white stories. Just know the full story.
