Is Malta Europe’s Most Underrated Destination? Kritika Goel Thinks More Indians Should Visit

Why Is Kritika Goel Recommending Malta To Indian Travellers?

Travel creator Kritika Goel recently returned from a five-day trip to Malta and believes it deserves far more attention from Indian travellers. While destinations like Paris, Switzerland, Italy, and Amsterdam continue to dominate European travel wishlists, Malta remains relatively unexplored among Indian tourists despite offering historic cities, scenic coastlines, island adventures, and Mediterranean charm in one compact destination. According to Kritika, one of Malta’s biggest strengths is that visitors can experience a lot without feeling exhausted. Instead of rushing through multiple cities and train journeys, travellers can explore the country’s major attractions at a comfortable pace while still experiencing history, culture, beaches, and local life. For travellers looking for a European holiday that feels relaxed rather than hectic, Malta appears to tick many boxes.

Is Five Days Enough To Explore Malta?

According to Kritika, five days turned out to be the perfect amount of time. During her trip, she explored some of Malta’s most popular destinations, including the capital city of Valletta, the historic walled city of Mdina, the island of Gozo, the famous Blue Grotto, and the picturesque Three Cities region. Each location offered something different.

Valletta provided colourful streets, architecture, and waterfront views. Mdina delivered a quieter and more historical atmosphere. Gozo offered a slower island experience, while Blue Grotto showcased some of Malta’s most famous coastal scenery. Rather than constantly travelling between distant locations, visitors can comfortably cover many of Malta’s highlights within a single trip.

Is Malta An Affordable European Destination?

One of Kritika’s biggest takeaways was that Malta can be surprisingly affordable when planned properly.

She revealed that she booked a one-way flight from Bengaluru to Malta for around 27,000 through Qatar Airways by planning her travel in advance.

Compared to several Western European destinations where flights, accommodation, and local transport can become expensive quickly, Malta often offers a more budget-friendly alternative while still delivering a classic European experience.

The country is also well connected to major European cities, making it easier for travellers to combine Malta with larger European itineraries if they want to visit multiple destinations during one trip.

Where Should Travellers Stay In Malta?

During her trip, Kritika stayed in both Sliema and Victoria in Gozo, allowing her to experience different sides of the country.

She particularly recommends Sliema for travellers looking for a relaxed atmosphere, waterfront walks, cafés, restaurants, and beautiful sunset views. The area is often considered one of the most convenient bases for first-time visitors. For travellers who enjoy history and architecture, Valletta offers easy access to many of Malta’s cultural landmarks and historical attractions. Meanwhile, St. Julian’s is often preferred by visitors looking for nightlife, bars, entertainment, and a more energetic atmosphere after sunset. Each area offers a different experience, making it easier for travellers to choose accommodation based on their travel style.

How Easy Is It To Travel Around Malta?

Getting around Malta is relatively straightforward. According to Kritika, ferries and taxis are widely available and make travelling between key locations fairly convenient. Public buses connect most parts of the country and remain one of the more budget-friendly transportation options for tourists. However, bus journeys can sometimes take longer depending on routes and traffic conditions. For travellers seeking maximum flexibility, renting a car remains one of the best ways to explore lesser-known areas and hidden coastal spots at their own pace. Given Malta’s compact size, driving between major attractions is generally manageable compared to larger European countries.

Why Are More Creators Discovering Malta?

In recent years, destinations that feel less crowded and more authentic have become increasingly attractive to younger travellers and creators.

Malta sits in an interesting position.

It offers many of the things travellers seek in Europe: historic streets, Mediterranean views, island experiences, beaches, local culture and architecture, while avoiding some of the overwhelming crowds often associated with Europe’s biggest tourism hotspots. For creators, it also provides highly photogenic locations without requiring extensive travel between destinations. That combination of accessibility and visual appeal is making Malta increasingly popular across travel content platforms.

Is Malta Worth Adding To Your Travel List?

Based on Kritika Goel’s experience, the answer appears to be yes.

The destination offers a mix of history, coastal beauty, island adventures, and relaxed European charm without demanding weeks of travel planning.

For Indian travellers looking beyond traditional European itineraries, Malta presents an alternative that feels both accessible and rewarding.

And perhaps that is why creators like Kritika continue describing it as one of Europe’s most underrated destinations.
