Met Gala 2024: Isha Ambani Slays In Rahul Mishra’s Custom Bespoke Saree Gown

Our desi girls are making us proud with their top-notch fashion game at Met Gala 2024. We already gave a detailed write-up of Bollywood star Alia Bhatt looking stunning in a custom-designed, mint green Sabyasachi sari giving a perfect interpretation of the theme “Garden of Time.” The next on the list is none other than an Indian entrepreneur and philanthropist Isha Ambani.

Outfit By Rahul Mishra

Billionaire Isha Ambani caught everyone’s attention with her beautiful and flowery outfit at the Met Gala 2024. She wore a bespoke hand-embroidered couture sari gown from Indian designer Rahul Mishra. Keeping in sync with this year’s dress code – The Garden of Time, Isha’s ensemble depicted nature’s glorious and bountiful lifecycle which took over 10,000 hours to complete. The look embraces sustainability by incorporating elements from Rahul’s past collections. It incorporated delicate samples of flowers, butterflies, and dragonflies meticulously integrated via distinct applique and embroidery techniques.

Accessories fit for royalty!

Isha Ambani completed her look with an exquisite Jade clutch crafted by Swadesh using the ancient Indian art forms of Nakashi and Miniature Painting. Her jewelry for the night included traditional lotus hand bracelets (Haathpochas), parrot earrings, and a flower choker, all designed by Viren Bhagat.

Anaita took to her Gram and shared Isha’s Met Gala look with a long caption that reads, “Our garden of time. Isha is wearing a bespoke hand-embroidered couture sari gown from Indian designer Rahul Mishra. For this year’s Met Gala theme of “The Garden of Time”, Rahul and I set out to depict nature’s glorious and bountiful lifecycle in this custom look for Isha, which took over 10,000 hours to complete.”

She added, “This look embraces sustainability by incorporating elements from Rahul’s past collections. Delicate samples of flowers, butterflies, and dragonflies were meticulously integrated from the archives into the design, via distinct applique and embroidery techniques, such as Fareesha, Zardozi, Nakshi, and Dabka, as well as French knots. Together, all of these elements carry a powerful narrative about the state of the planet and offer a message of hope and rebirth. The magnificent look was intricately hand-embroidered at Rahul Mishra’s ateliers across several Indian villages, supporting hundreds of local craftspeople and weavers.”
