Reddit Now Speaks Hindi: Posts and Comments Can Be Translated Instantly

Reddit, one of the world’s most popular community platforms, has added support for automatic Hindi translations on posts and comments. This means users in India can now read content in Hindi without using any third-party tools. The company shared this update in a blog post and mentioned that it will soon add support for Bengali too. With this update, more people in India can access the wide range of discussions and opinions that Reddit is known for.

How Reddit Started Its Translation Journey

The company said, “With this expansion, authentic, more people-powered content is now accessible in one of India’s most spoken languages.”

Reddit’s machine translation feature was first tested back in May 2024, beginning with the French language. After a few months, in September, Reddit made the feature available in over 35 countries, including support for Spanish and Portuguese. Now, with the launch of Hindi support, Reddit is entering a new phase focused on expanding its reach in India.

Reddit’s AI Feature “Answers” Expands to India

Earlier this April, Reddit also rolled out its AI-powered search tool called Answers to many new countries, including India. The feature was earlier available only to a small group of English-speaking users in the United States. Now, people in India, Australia, Canada, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, and the U.K. can use the feature. “Answers” helps users find relevant information on Reddit quickly using artificial intelligence.

What’s Coming Next?

The next big update is expected to be the launch of Bengali translations. This will make the app more friendly to users in Eastern India and Bengali-speaking communities around the world.

Reddit’s effort to bring regional languages shows that it wants to make its platform truly global and deeply local at the same time.

With Hindi translations now live and more Indian languages on the way, Reddit is clearly building a stronger bond with Indian internet users. This is good news for people who prefer reading and engaging in local languages. This app is not just a place for memes and debates anymore; it’s becoming a multi-language platform where every voice can be heard.
